The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel has reached day 102, with both nations pausing their mutual attacks that threatened the fragile ceasefire established since April 8. However, the situation remains precarious, as Iran has warned that hostilities could resume if Israel continues its strikes, particularly in Lebanon. According to Al Jazeera, Iranian parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf criticized Israel’s actions, claiming they indicate a lack of genuine intent to foster trust.

On Monday, Israel targeted the Mahshahr petrochemical complex in the southwest, a significant industrial site. Although Iranian media reported no casualties, officials are assessing the damage and potential economic impact. This strike occurred despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to exercise caution, as continued military actions could jeopardize the truce.

Israeli Ambassador to the U.S., Yechiel Leiter, stated that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are unrelated to the situation in Lebanon, accusing Iran of attempting to conflate the two issues. Analysts suggest that Israel’s decision to carry out strikes, despite Trump’s calls for restraint, is a message to the U.S. that any agreement with Iran must consider Israeli security concerns.

In the U.S., Trump warned Netanyahu that he could find himself “on your own very soon” if he continues with further strikes. This warning underscores the growing tensions between Washington and Jerusalem regarding the ceasefire’s future. Political analysts argue that Trump’s admonition would be more influential if it were supported by tangible actions, as ongoing U.S. military aid and diplomatic support may diminish the impact of his comments.

Meanwhile, in Lebanon, Hezbollah reported conducting 16 operations against Israeli forces, targeting military assets and troop gatherings. The group claimed to have used drones and guided missiles in their attacks, asserting they successfully destroyed several Israeli military vehicles and equipment.
