On Friday, February 27, 2026, the Institute for the Development of Poetry and Heritage in Sydney hosted a dinner in honor of the esteemed Judge Ibrahim Allam at Dr. Bahia Abu Hamad’s salon for culture and poetry.

The event was attended by Father Asaad Lahoud, the head of Mar Charbel Monastery in Punchbowl, and Father Tony Abu Shaya, the pastor of the Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church in Doonside. A distinguished group from the ethnic communities in Sydney, including individuals from Egypt, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Iraq, and Lebanon, were also present, comprising doctors, lawyers, engineers, poets, association leaders, businesspeople, and cultural and literary activists.

The evening began with the national anthems of Australia and Lebanon. Dr. Abu Hamad welcomed the esteemed guests and praised Judge Allam for his honorable career in law, stating:

“We celebrate today a man who has not only pronounced judgments but has made his conscience a scale and his integrity a guiding light. Your esteemed journey is an academy in the knowledge of jurisprudence, a remarkable record of substantial efforts that have shaped the concepts of justice in their finest forms. The lofty achievements you have accomplished are the result of sharp intellect, extensive knowledge, and a steadfast belief that justice is a trust carried only by the great.”

Poet George Mansour lauded Judge Allam with beautiful verses, saying:

“Allam, with the essence of authenticity for the original,

Son of Ayli, whose scales have been tipped in your favor.

And Allam, a judge who never denied the agent,

Still weighs it in the balance of justice.

How the judges have raced through the years,

And sold the glory of our independence for cheap.

We need a judge among the just judges

To govern our homeland and leave us in peace.”

Poet Fouad Naaman Khoury also praised Judge Allam with tender and dignified lines, saying:

“A word from a son of the Khoury,

To the judge of constitutional rights,

A hundred welcomes to you!

In the heart of the presidential palace.

Oh, Your Honor, I congratulate you,

Your reputation blooms from here to there,

For judges like you are rare these days,

No one can tempt or sway you…

When Bahiyah spoke, the judgments were made,

The most faithful of lawyers greet you,

On that Friday night, it resonated and echoed,

It became a wedding when we met you.”

Poet Charbel Baini expressed his feelings in poignant verses filled with reproach, saying:

“In the palace of justice, your balance tips the scales,

While people worship money… your tears fell,

When you saw the palace of justice crumbling,

They tarnished your reputation with their dark judgments.

In the eyes of truth, this people has been wronged,

O son of glory, your word is golden,

And our Beirut is the mother of laws and wisdom.”

Dr. Abu Hamad honored Judge Allam with the “Hammer of Distinction” award, acknowledging his remarkable career filled with unique and prestigious achievements in the field of law.

In turn, Judge Allam expressed his gratitude to the esteemed guests and the distinguished poets for their generosity in sharing their precious time and rich poetry, hoping to meet them again and wishing for peace to prevail throughout the world.
