The Government of Sudan welcomes the statement issued by the 1293rd meeting of the African Union Peace and Security Council, chaired by the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, which reaffirmed the Council’s strong rejection and condemnation of the alleged government established by T’sis Alliance and the Al-Dagalo terrorist militia. The Council affirmed its strong commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national unity, and rejected all attempts to dismantle the Sudanese State or establish any parallel bodies to its legitimate institutions.

The Government of Sudan values the clear and principled position expressed in the statement of the African Peace and Security Council in support of the Transitional Government in Sudan, which made reference to the roadmap announced by His Excellency Lt. General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, last February, and its welcome to the Government of “Hope”, led by His Excellency Dr. Kamil Idris, Prime Minister, and its call for the international community to support it.

The Government of Sudan affirms its full commitment to ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid to all those in need in areas affected by the rebellion of the terrorist militia. In this context, it welcomes the explicit paragraph in which the AU Peace and Security Council explicitly holds the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) responsible for the situation in El Fasher and certain areas in Darfur and Kordofan, and demands the lifting of siege of El Fasher to enable humanitarian aid to reach the civilians. In this regard, the Government of Sudan calls on international organizations operating in Sudan to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the civilians in El Fasher and other areas affected by the terrorist militia war.

While the Government of Sudan reiterates its repeated calls to the international community, through the UN Security Council and regional and international organizations, to condemn the blatant foreign interference in supporting the terrorist militia and hold the involved states accountable, it welcomes the Peace and Security Council’s condemnation of foreign interference and its emphasis on the need to identify those countries through the AU Subcommittee on Sanctions, in coordination with the Committee on Intelligence and Security Services in Africa (CISSA) and the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL), and then recommend measures to be taken by the Peace and Security Council against them.

The Government of Sudan, in the context of constructive dialogue, positive engagement, and full cooperation with the African Union, welcomes the planned visit by the African Union Peace and Security Council to Sudan at the earliest opportunity to witness the positive developments in the country and the political transition process. At the same time, the Government looks forward to the imminent return of the African Union Office to Sudan.
