A teenager from Northumberland has been sentenced to three-and-a-half years in prison, followed by an additional year of supervision, for his involvement in a banned neo-Nazi group known as The Base. The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named due to his age, was found guilty of being part of this paramilitary organization that advocates for race war and white supremacy.

According to BBC News, the sentencing took place at Leeds Crown Court, where the teenager was also convicted of possessing and sharing terror publications. His arrest followed a counter-terror police raid at his home in February 2025, when he was just 15 years old, during which authorities uncovered an “arsenal” of weapons, including a crossbow, knives, and a gas-powered air pistol.

The teenager’s case went to trial and lasted three weeks, culminating in a jury finding him guilty. Police investigations revealed that he participated in extreme right-wing online chat groups on platforms like Telegram, Snapchat, TikTok, and Wire.

During the trial, the defense argued that the boy did not intend to carry out any acts of terrorism and requested that the jury take his life experiences into account. The case highlights ongoing concerns about youth involvement in extremist groups and the implications of online radicalization.
