Dozens of activists from the Druze community in Sydney, alongside supporters from other communities, minorities, and political and social figures, participated in a march held on Saturday, August 30, in Hyde Park. The event coincided with similar demonstrations worldwide advocating for Suwayda’s right to self-determination.

Protesters carried banners affirming their full support, condemning the international community’s inadequate stance and its failure to fulfill its responsibilities in halting repeated massacres and violations committed by the transitional authority against the Druze and other religious minorities in Syria.

Participants called on the United Nations and the international community to take immediate action to open commercial and humanitarian corridors to lift the siege imposed by the Jolani government on Suwayda for over fifty days. They also demanded effective measures to reveal the fate of abducted women, secure their release, and free all Druze prisoners and detainees. Additionally, they called for the establishment of an independent international investigation under UN auspices into the massacres committed against minorities.

Organizers emphasized that peaceful advocacy will continue until the voices of Suwayda’s people are heard globally. They affirmed that Druze communities in the diaspora stand united with their compatriots in Syria and are ready to provide all necessary support to amplify Suwayda’s struggle until freedom and security are achieved.
