In light of the tragic and dire situation our people in Lebanon are experiencing, we affirm the following:

We condemn and denounce the Israeli aggression against Lebanon in all its regions and against all its communities, especially the resilient South, where Israel has committed heinous acts in violation of all international laws and norms against women, children, and the elderly, as acknowledged by United Nations representatives and humanitarian organizations on the ground.

Therefore, as the Australian Lebanese Cultural Union, we strongly denounce the atrocities our people are facing and call upon Australian officials and the Australian Government to work tirelessly to stop these violations and aggressions perpetrated by Israel on our homeland and its residents. We urge Australia to play its leading and effective role in halting these inhumane practices against the Lebanese people.

We also call upon the Lebanese community and its institutions to rise to the required level of responsibility towards our affected brothers and sisters in Lebanon, by attending to their needs and concerns and providing support morally and socially without hesitation or regional or sectarian discrimination.

In light of the painful circumstances facing our nation and its citizens, the Australian Lebanese Cultural Union has decided to postpone its annual celebration, which was scheduled for the upcoming November in commemoration of the National Independence Day, hoping to meet with you under better circumstances.
