On Monday, South Sudanese students issued a statement calling for urgent action by the Juba Government to evacuate them from Sudan due to the worsening situation in different parts of the country. As attempts to stop the ongoing conflict have failed, many countries have already evacuated their diplomats.
Last week, the South Sudanese Government issued a statement on the evacuation of its citizens living in Khartoum. However, due to the large number of South Sudanese citizens staying in Sudan, the government has been unable to evacuate them all. This includes many who have already crossed the border into the Northern part of Upper Nile state, including Sudanese nationals who fled the capital Khartoum since the conflict began a week ago.
Global leaders are now putting pressure on both generals to pursue diplomatic efforts and restore peace to the Sudanese community. On Sunday, many foreign nations successfully evacuated their diplomats through various land borders, with some using the Ethiopia border and others entering through the Red Sea in Egypt.
