Arabic version: مسؤول سعودي ينتقد دور الإمارات في دعم إسرائيل
In a recent appearance on The David Hearst Podcast, former Saudi Shura Council member Ahmed Altuwaijri characterized the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as “the Trojan horse of Israeli ambitions.” He asserted that the UAE’s regional actions have significantly advanced Israel’s strategic goals.
Altuwaijri emphasized the disparity between Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, stating, “With all respect to Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi is a small district of Riyadh. There’s no comparison.” He expressed strong disapproval of the current Israeli leadership, labeling them as untrustworthy and incapable of fostering coexistence with Palestinians.
According to Middle East Eye, Altuwaijri condemned the ongoing violence in the region, describing it as a “genocide” that will be remembered as a disgrace to humanity. He reiterated Saudi Arabia’s stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, insisting that peace necessitates justice, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
He further warned that Israel poses a broader threat: “Israel is a threat to humanity, to Judaism, to Jews, to the region and to the Arab world.” Altuwaijri’s comments reflect a deep-seated concern regarding the implications of UAE-Israel relations for the Arab world.
