Boxing greats Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather have agreed to a professional rematch in September. The highly anticipated bout will take place at Sphere in Las Vegas on Saturday, 19 September, and will be broadcast live on Netflix.

According to BBC News, Mayweather, 48, announced he would come out of retirement for a fourth time last week. This fight will be his first professional match since beating mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor with a 10th-round technical knockout in 2017.

Pacquiao, 47, retired from the sport to focus on his political career in 2021 but returned to the ring last July to fight WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, who retained his title after a draw.

The two fighters first met in 2015 in what was billed as the ‘Fight of the Century,’ where Mayweather emerged victorious, beating Pacquiao via a wide unanimous decision. Pacquiao expressed excitement about the rematch, stating that fans have waited long enough and deserve to see it again. He aims to remind Mayweather of the one loss on his professional record.

Mayweather, confident in his abilities, reiterated that he expects the outcome to mirror their previous encounter. The boxing world eagerly anticipates this showdown as the two icons prepare to step back into the ring.

More details will follow as the fight date approaches.
