NSW Labor is calling on the Government to significantly ramp up its boosters communication and awareness campaign, as the booster rate plateaus at just above 60 per cent.
Between 22 January and 22 February, the booster rate in New South Wales doubled from 24.1 per cent to 51.7 per cent.
From 22 February to 22 March, it increased from 51.7 per cent to 58.4 per cent.
And in the two weeks from 22 March to 5 April, it has increased a mere two per cent to 60.4 per cent.
Yesterday, Premier Perrottet said:
“Now what our strength in New South Wales has been our vaccination rates, our vaccination rates have kept people safe.
“The thing that we can do as a community is if you’re eligible, get that booster shot.”
Yet, just last month, a member of his own ministry Tanya Davies MP attended an anti-vaccination rally at the NSW Parliament, severely undermining the Government’s message to the community on vaccination.
NSW Labor is calling on the NSW Government to ramp up its communication and awareness campaign on boosters.
Ryan Park, NSW Shadow Minister for Health said:
“Boosters are an effective way of protecting our community and allowing us to live safely with covid.
“New South Wales cannot afford to become complacent.
“It is critical the NSW Government strengthen its message to encourage further take up of boosters, and NSW Labor is prepared to provide the bipartisan support it needs to achieve that.”
