More than 600 people came together to celebrate Ramadan and break their fast at the annual Mayoral Iftar Dinner on Tuesday 4 April.
Hosted by Canterbury-Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour, the event brought together people of the Muslim community to share a meal at Condell Park’s the Grand Vaudeville.
Mayor Asfour said the impressive turnout of more than 600 attendees was a far cry from the 150 people who showed up to the very first Iftar dinner, some 11 years ago.
“The annual Iftar dinner is a tradition I’m proud of initiating to show our City’s appreciation for the contributions of our Muslim community.”
“It’s a small token of appreciation and a symbol of our enduring and ongoing friendship.”
