Moroccan Embassy Hosts Reception Marking 26th Anniversary of King Mohammed VI’s Ascension

On Wednesday, 30 July 2025, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Canberra hosted a distinguished reception to commemorate the 26th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the throne. Held at the ambassadorial residence in O’Malley, ACT, the reception brought together members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, community leaders, and representatives of multicultural media.

The event was hosted by Her Excellency Mrs. Wassane Zailachi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco, and Mr. Hamid Mernissi, who warmly welcomed guests in celebration of this national milestone. In her remarks, the ambassador emphasised the Kingdom’s strong and evolving relations with Australia, as well as its continued partnerships with countries around the world.

The reception was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including the Ambassadors of Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, and Sudan, reflecting the close diplomatic ties Morocco maintains with fellow Arab nations.

Representing the Australian Arab media landscape was Mr. Remy Wehbe, Director of Oz Arab Media, accompanied by his wife Linda. Their attendance underscored the role of multicultural media in promoting intercultural dialogue and highlighting diplomatic events of regional significance.

Guests were treated to warm Moroccan hospitality, with traditional cuisine and an elegant setting that showcased the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage.
