According to BBC News, Middlesex raced to an eight-wicket Metro Bank One Day Cup victory over Glamorgan at Radlett after bowling the Welsh side out for 66. Middlesex reached 67-2 in 9.1 overs, with Josh de Caires unbeaten on 45 from 30 balls.

Glamorgan’s total was their lowest against Middlesex in List A cricket and their fourth lowest ever. Eddie Byrom top-scored with 29, but the inexperienced side lost their final nine wickets for 22 after reaching 44. Naavya Sharma made the early breakthroughs, while Toby Roland-Jones and Noah Cornwell completed the collapse.

Sharma dismissed Callum Nicholls lbw before having Henry Hurle caught by wicketkeeper Joe Cracknell, Jack Hope-Bell caught at mid-off and Will Smale lbw. Roland-Jones removed Byrom and Dan Douthwaite with edges to slip, with Sam Robson taking two catches, and Alex Horton also edged behind. Cornwell took the final three wickets, while Cracknell finished with four catches.

Middlesex made a fast start in reply, taking 20 from Connor O’Riordan’s first over. De Caires and Nathan Fernandes pushed the score to 50 in six overs before Fernandes, who made 14, drove Tom Edwards to mid-on. Edwards then took a second wicket when Robson was caught behind, but De Caires struck the winning run from the first ball of the 10th over.

The result gave Middlesex three wins from their opening three matches, while Glamorgan have one win from three. Middlesex next travel to Worcester on Friday 31 July. Glamorgan are set to face Durham, Derbyshire and Hampshire as they seek to rebuild confidence.
