In the presence of more than sixty representatives of various segments of the Lebanese religious, political, and social communities in Sydney, Mr. Remy Wehbe, the director of Oz Arab Media, welcomed the Lebanese Army delegation which was represented by Brigadier General Imad Khreich and Lieutenant Colonel Wadih Raffoul at the Riviera Restaurant and Lounge at Chipping Norton.
The event was also attended by members of the council of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown namely Mayor Khal Asfour and Councilors Bilal Elhayek & Charbel Abou Raad. Journalist Sayed Mikhael, bureau chief of the Lebanese National News Agency in Australia, launched the event by welcoming the guests and stressing the importance of the Lebanese Army and how it is one of the main forces which keep Lebanon standing despite all the problems it faces. Then, he handed over to Mr. Wehbe who formally thanked the delegation for accepting his invitation and reiterated Mr. Mikhael’s sentiments.
After Mr. Wehbe’s welcome note, the guests and delegation were treated to a wonderful poem by esteemed poet Fouad Nehman El Khoury before Brigadier General Imad Khreich addressed the audience. In his speech, he explained that the main reason for the delegation’s visit to Sydney was to thank the Lebanese diaspora for their continuous support. Afterwards, he also answered a few questions from the audience regarding the current situation in Lebanon, especially in what relates to the Lebanese Army.
