Iran’s state TV said Tehran had obtained a draft of an initial unofficial framework for a memorandum of understanding with the US. Under the framework, Iran would restore commercial shipping through the strait of Hormuz to pre-war levels within a month, while the US would withdraw military forces from Iran’s vicinity and lift a naval blockade. According to The Guardian, the US and Iran have yet to reach a formal agreement on the matter.

The memorandum also indicates that shipping in the critical waterway would be managed by both Iran and Oman. If a final agreement is achieved within a two-month period, it would be endorsed by a United Nations Security Council resolution. This proposal comes as tensions remain high in the region, with conflicting reports regarding the status of ceasefire agreements and military actions.

In related developments, Israeli airstrikes have reportedly killed at least 31 people in southern Lebanon, as the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) warned residents in the city of Tyre to evacuate ahead of potential strikes. The IDF has intensified its operations in Lebanon, targeting Hezbollah positions and claiming to have attacked over 150 sites in the past day.

Despite the ongoing conflict, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have suggested that a return to war with the United States is unlikely, asserting their readiness against any potential attacks. However, Iranian officials have also emphasized that no agreement has been reached regarding the Strait of Hormuz, indicating ongoing negotiations with Oman to facilitate shipping through this vital passage.
