The UK organization overseeing girl guide groups has mandated that transgender girls must exit the organization by September. This decision follows a December announcement stating that biological boys identifying as girls would no longer be permitted to join.

According to BBC News, the action aligns with a Supreme Court ruling in 2025, which clarified that ‘sex’ refers to biological sex in the context of equality law.

Girlguiding emphasized that the set timeframe would provide affected members and their families sufficient opportunity to plan, seek support, and determine their readiness to leave before the deadline.
