Tayla Lee Brailey, a former teacher, has pleaded guilty to four sexual offences involving students. The 32-year-old entered her plea in the Campbelltown Local Court, where three additional charges were dropped. According to ABC News, her sentencing is set for later this month.
Brailey was arrested in August 2024, facing charges related to the sexual abuse of a 17-year-old male student. Just weeks later, she was re-arrested at her home in Wollongong for offences involving a 16-year-old male student. The case has since moved from Wollongong to Campbelltown Local Court, where Brailey has been on conditional bail.
The charges she pleaded guilty to include one count of sexual intercourse with someone 16 years old under special care, one count of sexual touching, and two counts of using a carriage service to solicit or transmit child abuse material. The remaining charges, including sexual intercourse with a 17-year-old under special care, were withdrawn by the prosecution.
During the court proceedings, Brailey acknowledged her guilt as the charges were read aloud. The court has yet to finalize the agreed facts of the case due to some disputed details, according to her defence lawyer, Abbas Soukie. The sentencing is scheduled for March 26 in the Campbelltown District Court.
