According to ABC News, a truck driver has been reported after two concrete slabs fell onto Adelaide’s North-South Motorway and were involved in a crash affecting several vehicles.
SA Police said the incident happened just after 10:30am on Friday, July 10, as vehicles merged into the southbound lane in front of a truck carrying concrete slabs near Bolivar. Police said the truck lost two 15-tonne concrete segments.
The segments allegedly fell into the roadway and collided with three cars parked at the side of the road. Two pedestrians standing beside a broken-down vehicle on the shoulder were struck by the parked cars, police said.
One pedestrian was taken to hospital by ambulance with a suspected broken arm. Police said two other people sustained minor injuries.
A 38-year-old Para Hills West man was reported for causing harm by dangerous driving, using a mobile phone while driving, failing to wear a seatbelt and a severe risk load restraint breach. He received a 12-month immediate loss of licence and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.
