The Member for Liverpool, Charishma Kaliyanda MP, has been appointed the Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Services, Parliamentary Secretary for Customer Service & Digital Government, and Parliamentary Secretary for Youth Justice in the Minns Labor Government.
The NSW Premier, Chris Minns, announced the new appointment on the morning of Sunday 16 June 2024.
The Parliamentary Secretary role will see Ms Kaliyanda support the Minister, The Hon. Jihad Dib, in driving action to deliver on NSW Government priorities in Parliament.
The appointment marks a swift rise for the new Member for Liverpool. These new responsibilities follow Ms Kaliyanda’s appointment to the Committee on Children and Young People earlier this month.
Since being elected in 2023, Charishma Kaliyanda has made strides in delivering for the people of Liverpool, securing a new fire station for Busby, upgrades to Cecil Hills High School, a new co-educational high school in the Liverpool CBD, and five new public preschools across the electorate, to open by 2027.
Ms Kaliyanda will continue this vital work locally while undertaking her new role as Parliamentary Secretary.
