The Cumberland Young Champions Awards, organised by Rainbow Crossing Incorporated, took place today at the Merrylands RSL Club, celebrating the exceptional achievements and valuable contributions of young individuals within the local community. This esteemed event aims to inspire and motivate young people to pursue their dreams and make a positive impact on society.
The Gala High Tea Presentation Ceremony, held on Sunday, 7th July 2024, at 4:00 pm, brought together the community to honour the hard work and dedication of these young achievers. Nominees, under 19 years old as of 30th May 2024 and living, studying, or working in the Cumberland Local Government Area (LGA), were acknowledged for their achievements during the period from 2022 to 2024. They could be nominated by others or self-nominate in various categories, with multiple nominations permitted through separate submissions. Past winners were eligible to nominate in different categories, while finalists from previous years could re-nominate in their prior categories.
Finalists in each category received a Medal of Honour and a Certificate of Merit during the ceremony. Additionally, a Grand Winner’s Trophy was awarded in each category, exclusively collected by the recipients at the event. These accolades symbolise the community’s appreciation for the young champions’ efforts and accomplishments.
The event saw close to 300 attendees, including the young champions and their families, reflecting the community’s strong support for its youth. By recognising and celebrating their achievements, the Cumberland Young Champions Awards encourage young individuals to continue striving for excellence and contributing positively to their community.
