The Australian Government is reminding Australians do not travel to South Sudan, including Juba, due to the dangerous security situation and the threat of violence and armed conflict.

The security situation is volatile and could get worse without warning.

If the situation gets worse, routes into and out of South Sudan may be blocked. Juba airport may close or be inaccessible. Flights may be cancelled at short notice.

More information can be found in Smartraveller’s South Sudan Travel Advice. Australian travellers should subscribe for the latest updates.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) regularly reviews travel advice, assessing risks to Australians overseas and providing the latest information.

The Australian Government has advised Do Not Travel to South Sudan since 2011.
