NSW Labor is calling on the NSW Government to extend the free flu vaccine until the end of August.
This comes as a result of the enormous pressure currently on the NSW health and hospital system as health experts inform the communities that the peak of COVID19 and flu cases for winter is yet to come.
Ryan Park, Shadow Minister for Health said this request was urgent and NSW Labor would offer bipartisan support for the extension of these program of free flu vaccinations, saying,
‘We cannot afford for there to be any barriers that may prevent or deter people from getting vaccinated.
‘This extension would offer some relief to our hospitals and hardworking healthcare professionals during what will no doubt be a difficult few weeks ahead.
‘The health of NSW citizens and the strength of our healthcare system is too important to play politics. Both major parties must work together on this issue.
