On 14 September 2022, the Australian Arab Business Council (AABC) hosted their September dinner meeting at the Highline Venue in Little Saigon Plaza in Bankstown. The meeting was attended by a host of businesspeople from a wide array of industries including real estate, legal, tech, accounting, and more.
Mr. George Bousamra, the Vice President of the council launched the event by welcoming the guests and highlighting the importance of such events for businesspeople to meet, network, and build long-lasting relationships. Shortly after, Mr. Bousamra welcomed Dr. Ben Coorey from Archistar, the guest speaker for the night.
Dr. Coorey introduced himself and his business. After a short introduction about himself and how he and his team came upon the idea of Archistar, he began by highlighting how the architecture and generative design industries have advanced in recent years and showed how Archistar is the leading PropTech software in Australia and maybe the world. In addition to sharing with the audience how the software is being used by major construction companies as well as government agencies, he also demonstrated the actual software in use.
In short, what Archistar does is to provide “lightning-fast feasibility, compliance checks and concept designs” for almost any kind of building. It does so by integrating data from different sources, including the government, regarding zoning and other regulations in any given location. Moreover, it also generates potential designs that can be used in a given building site. Additionally, Archistar can also be used to assess a 2D or 3D design against building criteria related to the site so that the architect can know where potential gaps or problems are and how they can be remedied before submitting for approval. The potential uses for this software are tremendous, and they can greatly minimize approval times for various construction projects.
After Dr. Ben Coorey concluded his presentation, he answered a variety of questions by different members of the audience. Later, the guests enjoyed dinner together and many opportunities for networking and sharing ideas. In conclusion, the Australian Arab Business Council’s meetings keep getting better and better, and we are looking forward to next month’s event.
