A coronial inquest into the murder of Bridgette ‘Biddy’ Porter has revealed unsettling details about the mindset of her killer. The inquest, currently underway at Lidcombe Coroner’s Court in Sydney, heard that the individual responsible for Biddy’s death had expressed a desire to play a game called “serial killers” just a day before the tragic event.

According to ABC News, Bridgette Porter, who was only 10 years old when she was murdered in July 2020, had been frightened by this game. The inquest has revealed that her killer, referred to as XR for legal reasons, had a history of violent fantasies and had previously killed six chickens, raising serious concerns about their mental health.

XR’s mother provided testimony on the second day of the inquest, stating that her child had wanted to engage in the game with Biddy and another child, but both children declined. She expressed regret for not alerting Biddy’s parents about the fear her child had instilled in Biddy during the game. The testimony has sparked discussions about the warning signs that were overlooked leading up to the murder.

The inquest aims to explore the factors contributing to Biddy’s death, with her parents advocating for a thorough examination of the mental health issues surrounding XR. Biddy’s mother, Rebekah Keukenmeester, emphasized the need for greater awareness of mental health concerns and the importance of recognizing red flags that could prevent future tragedies.

The proceedings are expected to last until Friday, as the court continues to sift through evidence and testimonies related to this tragic case. The community remains hopeful that the findings of the inquest will lead to changes that enhance the safety of children and provide better support for those with mental health issues.
