Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty discussed boosting bilateral relations and several regional issues of mutual interest during a phone call with Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis.

He stressed the importance of increasing trade exchange and encouraging Swiss investments in infrastructure, including the Suez Canal Economic Zone, urban development projects, and new cities.
Regarding regional developments, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s intensive efforts and contacts to de-escalate and contain tensions in the region, affirming Egypt’s support for the US-Iranian negotiation track.
He emphasized the importance of seizing the current opportunity to reach a comprehensive agreement on outstanding issues to contribute to ending existing conflicts and paving the way for regional stability.
For his part, the Swiss minister expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt’s constructive role in supporting de-escalation efforts and promoting regional stability.
The two ministers also exchanged views on the developments of the Palestinian cause, where Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of implementing the requirements of the first phase of the US plan and starting the second phase.
He emphasized the necessity of the National Committee for managing the Gaza Strip to commence its duties from within the Strip, alongside the rapid deployment of the international stability force to support security restoration efforts.
Concerning the situation in Sudan, Abdelatty affirmed the importance of preserving Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, supporting its national institutions, and rejecting any attempts to establish parallel entities.
He also stressed the need to launch an all-inclusive, purely Sudanese-owned political process to end the conflict, emphasizing the importance of reaching a humanitarian truce that paves the way for a sustainable ceasefire to ensure aid delivery and alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people.
