On Tuesday, 3 June 2025, TAFE NSW held a dynamic community consultation session at its Canterbury Bankstown Campus, aiming to strengthen local partnerships and empower the voices of the community. The event brought together a diverse cross-section of community leaders, stakeholders, and residents to explore the region’s evolving needs, aspirations, and challenges.
The session was organised under the leadership of Nazik Yako, Manager of Community Engagement at TAFE NSW, who has been instrumental in facilitating similar forums across New South Wales. These sessions form part of TAFE NSW’s statewide commitment to inclusive education, social cohesion, and community-driven development.

The consultation was divided into several engaging segments. After an initial introduction, attendees collaborated in identifying and discussing the core needs, goals, and issues faced by the Canterbury Bankstown community. A short coffee break allowed for informal networking before participants reconvened to assess TAFE NSW’s role in these matters—specifically, the areas where it has direct control, can exercise influence, or should demonstrate concern.

The final segment focused on prioritising the community’s most pressing concerns and opportunities. This concluding exercise helped surface actionable insights to inform future programs, partnerships, and support services delivered by TAFE NSW.
Similar community consultations are being organised across New South Wales, reflecting TAFE NSW’s dedication to listening, learning, and leading alongside local communities. The initiative is designed not only to strengthen educational outcomes but also to ensure that TAFE remains responsive to the unique and changing needs of the people it serves.
As one of Australia’s largest vocational education and training providers, TAFE NSW continues to champion inclusive growth by fostering strong, informed, and resilient communities throughout the state.
