On Saturday, 3rd August, the picturesque Auburn Botanic Gardens played host to an engaging community event, “Politics in the Park,” organised by Lynda Voltz MP, Member for Auburn. The event featured the NSW Treasurer, Daniel Mookhey, and offered residents a valuable opportunity to discuss the NSW Government’s 2024/25 Budget and the vision for the state.
From 11:00 am to 12:30 pm, the Community Picnic Grounds buzzed with activity as community representatives gathered to gain insights and express their views. The event was well-attended, with a diverse crowd eager to engage with the state’s political discourse.

A central feature of the event was the Q&A session, where attendees could directly address their questions to Treasurer Mookhey. This interactive segment fostered a sense of inclusivity and transparency, allowing residents to voice their concerns and suggestions. To facilitate this, participants were encouraged to bring written questions, which were presented by the MC to ensure all voices were heard.

The atmosphere was convivial, aided by the delightful provisions of sausage sizzles, drinks, tea, and coffee. The organisers ensured that all food was Halal, with vegetarian options available upon request, catering to the diverse dietary preferences of the attendees.

The event’s success was evident in the active participation and the robust exchange of ideas, highlighting the community’s keen interest in state governance and fiscal planning. It also underscored the importance of such initiatives in bridging the gap between the government and the public, fostering a collaborative spirit for the betterment of NSW.
